January 2005

Barry Arnold donated the ashtray pictured above January 26, 2005.
William F. Litsinger worked for Sears Roebuck before starting his own heating shop
in the late 1940s. The shop was located at 2151 Manor Street in Shiloh.
Mr. Litsinger was the first Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 94, sponsored
by the Shiloh Fire Company. The troop was chartered June 30, 1944 with Francis
(Tiny) Jones as the Scoutmaster.
The ashtray is C1950, and was never used.

Barry also donated a 1938 calendar to the Society along with the ashtray.
Clarence and Norm Trimmer owned two stores. The Weigelstown store was located at the
northeast corner of Carlisle Road and Hilton Avenue. Their brother, Paul, managed it.
The Shiloh store (1931-1939) was located where the Dick Hills Auto Parts store
parking lot is sited now. In 1939 the Trimmers built a new store at 1993 Carlisle Road.
Clarence and his family lived on the second floor. Formprest Cleaners now occupy the
site, at the intersection of High Street and Carlisle Road.
The history of the store is more fully detailed in West Manchester Township 200th
Celebration 1799-1999.
